It's the real firmware

The display emulator is the shipping C++ compiled to WebAssembly — shims exist only where silicon meets the world. When the firmware changes, the Lab changes with it.

Honesty is enforced

"Verified ✓" in the browser is a real Ed25519 signature check. Release statuses come from the catalog itself. Recommendations never hide "in development".

Local-first, like everything else

The tools fetch nothing outside their own pages. Your chooser answers, filament colors, and experiments never leave your machine.

Even off the grid, they still find each other

Your Canaries and your displays don't need the internet — or even a hub — to reach each other. Over Bluetooth, a display hears every nearby Canary directly: who's present, battery and health, a tamper the instant it happens — with no broker and no Wi-Fi. When Wi-Fi and Home Assistant are up, that's the richer channel; when they're not, the glass still lights. (What a display learns this way is marked unsigned — it never wears the "Verified ✓" badge, which stays reserved for a real signature check.)

Status: in hardware bring-up. The radio path is built, host-tested, and green in CI; we're validating it on real boards against a published bench checklist before it ships in a signed release. The Lab won't call it done until it is.
