Everything a Canary asks of you, taught right here: free, mostly in your browser, no course and no signup.
The checklist on Print One, your exact case from the Builder, finished builds in the Gallery, and the FCC/IC/CE Case Label. No printer? Have one made.
Wire parts in the Test bench, see what plugging in does on Plug It In, learn the BOOT button on Unflashed Boards, then flash from your browser or the desktop Flasher.
The Lab’s Sense stage teaches camera, radar and sound placement on the real firmware; Display Modes and Through Canary Eyes show what a Canary perceives.
Start with Do You Need a Computer?, install the whole stack with one command, meet your fleet on Your Fleet, and reach it from anywhere with Away From Home.
How signatures make a record tamper-evident: How It Works, then the Vault, then check a sticker on Sticker Check and a birth certificate in the Factory.
Every term — Canary, witness log, break-glass, fleet — defined once in the Glossary, also published as plain text for AI assistants.
Work with us
Who we work with, who we’d like to hear from, and whose hardware we build on.
The Maker Corps: four tiers, from the Lab journey to mentoring new makers, with independent vendors, build requests, and the ecosystem that connects them.
The Lab runs in a browser and works offline, so a classroom can explore real firmware on the laptops it already has. The who-pays-what promise is on the Store; for anything else, talk to a human.
The witness kernel’s code, specs and invariants are public — use them in coursework, cite them, try to break them (please). For research collaborations, contact us.
On-device vision for safety and ops on For Industry. Procurement goes through Contact; terms live on Terms of Sale.
Canary designs run on boards from Seeed Studio, Espressif, Raspberry Pi and Waveshare — independent companies whose parts we buy like anyone else, listed with sources in the Ecosystem and sold by independent vendors. Open parts, no lock-in: that’s the point.
For makers: this page is data, and the site maps itself
The header, the “keep exploring” strip and the footer atlas on every page render from one map — SITE_MAP in js/site.js — and CI fails if a page on disk and the map disagree, so a page can’t quietly fall off it. Assistants get the same map as /llms.txt. The Lab has its own equivalent: every bench lives in build-line.json, with a matching gate.
